Georg J. Hoppe, Ph.D.

Georg J. Hoppe studied medicine, chemistry und biochemistry at the Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany. After receiving his Master’s degree in biochemistry, he worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Harvard Medical School in Boston (USA) in the area of chromatin structure. He received his Doctorate title from the Freie Universität Berlin.
He was trained as a patent attorney in a law firm in Berlin and at the German Patent- and Trademark Office as well as at the Federal Patent Court in Munich. Subsequently, he worked in the patent department of a German Biotech company and several patent law firms. After several years in intellectual property law he founded his own law firm in 2009.
Georg J. Hoppe`s technical areas of expertise lie in the fields of chemistry and biotechnology, food chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry as well as in mechanics.
Susanne Vogelbein, Ph.D.
European Patent Attorney Trainee
Susanne Vogelbein graduated in Biology at the Freien Universität Berlin, having majored in protein biochemistry and physiology. She obtained her Ph.D. at the Leibniz-Institute of Pharmacology in Berlin. Her thesis focused on intracellular protein trafficking.
After obtaining her degree, she managed her own science project in the field of regenerative energies.
At the Berlin-Brandenburg Center for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT) she advised scientists on the development of new medical and pharmaceutical solutions in the department of Business Development.
Her focus is on regenerative energies, biology, biochemisty, biotechnology, und pharmacology.
Jörg Beckmann
European Patent Attorney Trainee
Jörg Beckmann obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology with a focus on microbiology and genetics from the Freie Universität in Berlin. The theme of his diploma thesis was the development of specific markers for detecting clubroot resistance in brassica napus.
Moreover, he is a certified business administrator with extensive work-experience from a renowned law firm located in Berlin, Germany. Here, he managed the correspondence with the courts, the clients, and the administrative departments.
Presently, he is enrolled in an advanced training course for intellectual property law for natural scientists and engineers.
Sugata Hoppe, Ph.D.
Sugata Hoppe comes with many years of experience as a patent manger from the biotechnology industry. In addition to her experience in writing and prosecuting patents, she has also managed freedom-to-operate analyses for products at various points in their development stage. She acquired her experience in negotiating and drafting licensing contracts in the technology transfer branch at Children's Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated teaching hospital in Boston, USA. She also worked as a staff-scientist at a biotechnology company in the United States.
She was graduated in biochemistry from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley MA, USA and was awarded a Ph.D. in biology from Boston University, Boston, USA. She completed her post-graduate work in the cell signaling field at the Harvard Medical School Boston, USA.
Saskia I. Spezia

Saskia Spezia studied Materials Engineering and Chemistry at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. She wrote her thesis on ‘the production of silica aerogels’ at the German Research Center of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Cologne, Germany. After finishing, she started working as a Development engineer in vehicle integration on a launch team, located in Valencia, Spain. For 2 years she went through different departments in manufacturing, development and research.
During that time she studied systems engineering at the Loughborough University, England.
1999 she moved to Michigan, USA, working as a engineer in the field of package engineering and ergonomics.
Her technical focus is on engineering, telecommunications, automotive engineering, optics, semiconductor technology, software inventions and chemistry.
